Welcome to John the Baptist Blvd – Where Stories of Renewal Flow Like the Jordan River
At John the Baptist Blvd, we celebrate the transformative power of baptism, drawing inspiration from the biblical call to repentance and new life. Today, we spotlight the inspiring story of Nicole Shanahan, the Silicon Valley entrepreneur, patent attorney, and former vice presidential candidate who was previously married to Google co-founder Sergey Brin. In early 2025, Shanahan shared her personal baptism journey on social media, marking a profound shift from her decade-long practice of Judaism to embracing Jesus Christ as her Messiah.

Shanahan’s testimony, posted on X (formerly Twitter) in February 2025, begins with a night of intense spiritual heaviness in January 2025. Awakening to comfort her daughter during a night terror, she felt an oppressive presence that led her to pray fervently to God. This moment built on a foundation of grief from a “heart-wrenching loss” in September 2024, where she connected with a faithful guide named Diane Robinson through her Christian masseuse. Robinson helped Shanahan navigate her pain, introducing her to Scriptures that emphasized Jesus’ power to defeat darkness and sin.
Reflecting on her upbringing with a father plagued by addiction and “demons,” as well as her experiences in politics alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Shanahan came to recognize the reality of spiritual warfare. “I never fully grasped the reality of the devil until recently,” she wrote. Politics exposed her to “atrocities on innocent Americans,” prompting her to see the battle between good and evil as tangible. After converting to Judaism in 2014 for its intellectual and familial traditions, she now directs her prayers to Jesus, describing Him as “the bridge between us and heaven – our Intercessor before the Divine Creator.

“On January 19, 2025 – the day before President Donald Trump’s inauguration – Shanahan was baptized in her Atherton, California, backyard by Diane and Peter Robinson. The immersion symbolized her commitment, lifting a “veil” and revealing a deeper understanding of light versus darkness. She declared, “Today, I am a Jew for Jesus,” echoing her blended spiritual heritage while affirming Christ’s covenant.
Shanahan’s story resonates with many seeking hope amid trauma, addiction, or loss. As she encouraged others: “Faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting in the One who does. And when you find Him, you will know you are finally home.” Her journey reminds us that baptism is more than a ritual – it’s a declaration of victory over spiritual forces, much like John the Baptist’s call to prepare the way for the Lord.

Humble Closing Message from Founder John Arwood
“Dear friends in faith, as I reflect on Nicole Shanahan’s beautiful baptism, I’m reminded of how the Lord works in wonderful ways, turning pain into purpose and doubt into devotion. Here at John the Baptist Blvd, we’re just simple servants sharing these stories to point others toward the Savior’s grace. May this testimony encourage you as it has me – not because of fame or fortune, but because every soul surrendered to Christ is a victory for the Kingdom. In humility and hope, John Arwood.”
